Carl Craig

Carl Craig, founder of the record label Planet E, is described as a creative visionary, an electronic music icon, an esteemed Grammy-nominated composer, a world-class DJ and an ambassador for his native Detroit.

Yet the common thread that runs through Craig’s broad musical canon and creative projects is a resounding fascination with futurism. The prolific producer has cultivated a unique path as an artist, entrepreneur and civic leader, guided by his tendency toward forward thinking.

Outside of his Planet E recordings, Craig also continues to be one of the most sought-after remixers in the world. He has produced a seemingly never-ending list of remixes that now extends over 100 cuts, including mixes for the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, Junior

Boys (Grammy Award nominated), Gavin Russom & Delia Gonzalez, Theo Parrish, Tori Amos, Can, Goldfrapp, Friendly Fires, Tom Trago, Slam, Caribou, Tiga, Unkle, Henrik Schwarz, Life & Death, tINI, Yello and others.

In 2012 Craig was voted in the top DJs that rule the Earth in Rolling Stone and appeared on the cover of the world’s biggest electronic music magazine, Mixmag.

Hot Chip DJ Set

WHY NOT managed to bring one of the world-biggest acts in the electronic music community to Göteborg: HOT CHIP DJ Set. The breakthrough Hot Chip had with their album “The warning” in 2006. Since them being at Way out West 4 years ago their Swedish fan community has not been able to see them again, but we thought: “WHY NOT change that?”

Hot Chip’s music is hard to describe: In fact they seem to have trouble squaring it with the equal, but to some extent opposite, influence of, say, Bill Callahan from Smog. Or Lambchop. Or Crystal Gayle. So, instead of doing the obvious thing and working out what sort of band they are going to be, they conclude that they will be all of them at once. Unlike most of their heroes and role models, however, Hot Chip prefer things to be slightly off or too loud or in some way odd, and set great store in the accidental nature of recording. Perhaps it is this that gives them the slightly homemade feel that permeates the whole 'Coming On Strong', and makes it an album so high on charm.

So be prepared to be surprised, put on your dancing shoes and put your hands up for: Hot Chip DJ Set!

The Field

Stockholm-born, Berlin-based, The Field a.k.a. Axel Willner sprung into existence in 2003 when Axel took to Buzz – a software program he still uses to make music today – to construct his ambient techno based on a stoic motorik and a perpetually rotating hook. He was picked up by Kompakt just a year later. His track ‘Love vs. Distance’ provided an early demonstration of how the Swede could take just four bars of sound and deftly deconstruct, alter and rebuild them to create a constantly changing canvas. His follow-up 2006 EP ‘Sun & Ice,’ imbued a sense of wandering expanse with tracks like ‘Over The Ice’ skipping along like skimmed stones over water.

It all came together in 2007 on the phenomenal success of debut LP From Here We Go Sublime, receiving a 9.0 and a place inside the Top 200 records of the decade by Pitchfork, as well as accolades from NME and the BBC. 2013 seen the release on Cupid’s Head, hailed by Resident Advisor as “one of Willner’s most affirming and beatific creations to date”. April 8th 2016 marks the arrival of The Follower, once again on Kompakt.

La Fleur

She is back in Göteborg! One of Sweden’s biggest DJanes is currently taking over the world but did not forget her roots. After her Mythos success set last year, Watergate Berlin resident LaFleur finds the time to join our lineup. The Swedish-born, Berlin-based talent was tipped as the artist to watch at the beginning of the decade, and she has excelled herself with each passing year. From the launch of her own label, Power Plant Records, and its smash debut EP Flowerhead, to her triumph at Sweden's Grammy Awards equivalent, P3 Guld Awards, La Fleur has cemented a reputation as a unique multi-talent whose creations leave their imprint on you long after you experience them.

Dr. Motte

One man who, if anyone does, qualifies for the title of “legendary” must surely be Dr. Motte. An original through and through, this DJ, producer and remixer from the original vanguard of Technos few pioneering souls initiated and successfully staged what became the biggest cultural celebration of music, tolerance, love and indeed life itself, that the world has ever seen: the Love Parade. Even with such achievments to his credit, Dr. Motte has stayed true to his ideals, true to the ‘underground’ that has been his home for decades. By his chosen way of life, he remains attuned to and a part of that all important zeitgeist. Now like then, he stands for peace, love, unity and respect. His sound is sophisticated, energetic and multi-faceted. Mount Liberation Unlimited

Mount Liberation Unlimited is the brainchild of Stockholm natives and life long friends Tom Lagerman and Niklas Janzon. With a friendship rooted in musical exploration since their teens the two have evolved together through classical training, bands and music schools crafting what is today their own take on house music. Born out of a desire to separate themselves from the musical context they had earlier found themselves in, and from the musical rules, norms and conventions the two had acquired over the years. MLU wants to explore the cross over landscape between human groove and electronic synchronization, finding meaningfulness in their own perception of dance music. Performing live, the most important aspect for MLU is just that. Being live. With a hardware heavy setup they bridge the gap between electronic instruments and their own musicianship, always leaving room for improvisation to be able to feed off the crowd and create something unique for the moment.
